About the Exhibition – AUN: The Fleeting on Mind
Held at Tokyo International Gallery, AUN: The Fleeting on Mind was a duo exhibition featuring my work alongside my twin brother, Yuuta Takada. The exhibition explored how we capture and preserve fleeting, everyday moments through oil painting, stopping time on canvas as a counterweight to today’s fast-paced digital world. My paintings focused on Mount Fuji, treating it not just as a natural landscape, but as a mirror reflecting my changing internal state and emotions.
Preparing for the Exhibition – Exploring New Ideas
Preparing for this exhibition pushed me to grow in new ways. Working toward a strict gallery deadline forced me to trust my instincts and paint with more confidence. I also experimented beyond natural hues, using shades of blue, indigo, and green to explore how color can convey mood and emotion rather than just reality.
During the Exhibition – Learning from Visitors
Seeing my largest works to date mounted against the gallery's white walls gave them a scale and presence I hadn't fully realized in the studio. Engaging with visitors was deeply inspiring. Hearing people connect with the fine balance of scale and detail was encouraging, and their fresh perspectives gave me new confidence in my work.
Looking Forward – New Directions
This exhibition was a pivotal milestone in my artistic journey. While Mount Fuji will always be a core source of inspiration, the positive response to these works has motivated me to explore new subjects, including larger portraits and varied landscapes, as I continue to refine my voice.
