Fueling Youth Through Diamond Kids College
Diamond Kids College is a free physical education initiative created by my family’s organization, Takada Dojo. Combining elements of wrestling and body contact exercises, DKC travels across Japan to help children build confidence, physical skills, and self-esteem through movement and teamwork. In the summer of 2026, I volunteered as a staff member at three events in Gifu, Fukushima, and Iwate.
Laying the Groundwork – Setting the Stage for Growth
Before participants arrived, I got to work setting up the gym, lining up mats, arranging desks, and making sure the space was ready for action. Volunteering for Takada Dojo is second nature to me since I've supported my parents' events since I was in elementary school, but traveling to Gifu, Fukushima, and Iwate brought a fresh energy and a renewed opportunity to give back.
In the Action – Coaching and Connection
Throughout each event, I served as a group leader to keep the kids energized and focused. I demonstrated movements, coached proper form, and stepped in as a partner for children attending without a parent. Whether offering encouragement or looking after anyone who felt unwell, I focused on creating a safe, welcoming space where every child felt confident to try their best.
Full Circle – Gratitude and Shared Strength
At the end of each session, we gathered for a final greeting to celebrate everyone’s hard work before clearing the gym. Seeing the kids build confidence through physical challenge and connection was deeply rewarding. Supporting these events reminds me of the importance of community, and I am grateful to continue contributing to my family’s mission.
